Magpie Moment: How a ten minute meditation changed my work, my body and my parenting.
What if ten minutes with your eyes closed could flip on a light switch in your life?
What if stepping into a story lead you to an “ah-ha moment”?
What if you could start out your year with a strong guide?
Still with me? Watch this 3.5 minute video to hear how I accessed all of these things. Then click here to do it yourself!
Much Warmth,
Rachelle

Church of Art: Christopher Wheeldon
Hello Everyone. If you all will get settled down in to your pews, we’ll begin our service.
Today’s sermon is brought to you by choreographer Christopher Wheeldon. Wheeldon is arguably the most in-demand choreographer in the world of modern ballet. Renown for working with complex groupings, he also excels at solos and pas de deux, including this beautiful piece, After the Rain, danced by Yuan Yuan Tan and Damian Smith. As you experience this piece, please remember you are not in the critic’s chair. Let’s use these ten minutes to soak in beauty, creativity, innovation, and wonder. Amen? Amen.
Relig-ish: From Scripture to Song Lyrics, a New Kind of Sacred Text
Sacred Texts are traditionally defined as writings which are either written by God, or inspired by the Divine. But what if your understanding of “divine inspiration” goes beyond the Torah, Koran, or the Bible? Or what if it includes one of those traditional sacred texts plus other things? This video post is about embracing your sacred texts — even if they aren’t leather-bound with gilt-edge pages. :-)
What about you? What inspired works serve as your sacred text? Is there a quote that you know by heart that guides you on a regular basis? Is there a story from scripture that directs your steps on a regular basis? Does a certain song lyric play in your head and shape your way of being in the world? Tell us! We need your wisdom to help us along.

Car-Free Living with Magpie Girl
…in which I lay out a plan to remain car free. with kids. in America. And not jut because it’ green. (It’s good soulcare!)
Neato Things Rachelle Mentions in this video.
- No one wears lycra in Copenhagen. Check out Cycle Chic , especially the category “cycling in furs.” Plus, they have a great tag line “Hold my bike while I kiss your girlfriend.”
- Zip Car : for the places the bus and bike can’t reach.
- Super Cool Cargo Bike by Madsen. If we make it thru our first year car-free in Seattle, we may get one of these with a StokeMonkey motor.
- The only step thru electric bike I’ve found. Not as cute as my beautiful Amsterdam classic from Electra with Queen Bee saddlebags. Vanity Jones here is hoping she can just add a motor to her baby.
Today’s Artisan: Ten Things
- Visit Danish artisan Julie K. from Moments of Perfect Clarity and shop for some Clarity Birds.
- Don’t forget — all my art is packed on a ship for two month. So send me present from your hand-made artisan products and I’ll chant your praises in an upcoming video post at at Magpie Girl.
