Dangerously Compassionate

“I’d rather be loving than right.” He said to me, as we debated theology across the sticky coffee shop table.
I’d rather be loving than right. One sentence, and a new compass was set. Compassion became my true north.
You can spend all your time ascertaining “right” from “wrong.”
Writing maps that keep you safely on the right track.
Making sure you follow the rules. (And consequently judging other who do not.)
Or you could be bold as love.
Love is not a a soft focus-photo of kittens.
Love is brave.
Love makes you quake in your boots.
Love transforms you–like birth, like fire. .
And to live compassionately out of the burning heart of love? Well that’s just down-right dangerous.
What if today you focused on being loving rather than being right?
What if you took as your truth, “It was in love I was created, and in love is how I hope I die.”
What if you left “right” sitting on the curb and held hands with love instead?
Where might it take you. How might you then live?
Let’s find out together.
(Amen? Amen.)
I’m Dangerously Compassionate.
