My friend Shay, a transgendered seminary student who blogs at Anarchist Reverend, has started to collect a series of videos from religious/spiritual leaders for LGBTQ youth who are being bullied or discriminated against. He’s looking for LGBT ministers/spiritual directors/etc; or straight ministers who are open and affirming, to record messages of support. You Tube has made special exception to Dan Savage’s It Gets Better project to allow more videos to be posted there. And we’d also like to see an easy-to-sort-through list specifically for religious teens at Project Say Yes.
To get your video up at Project Say Yes, upload your video to You Tube. For those of you new to vlogging, you can even record from your webcam directly to the You Tube site. Then mail the link to projectsayyes@gmail.com . To upload it to It Gets Better email the link to mail@savagelove.net. Both projects will then favorite your video, adding it to the playlist. Please help Shay gather up a powerful force to support these kids who have been told they are an abomination. Let’s tell them they are fearfully and wonderful made, and that there is a place for them to pursue their spiritual path with saftey and acceptence.
If you are an open an affirming pastor, rabbi, or spiritual director or you know someone who who is, please pass this link along.
Thank You for your support.

I heart you, in case you didn’t know. I shall be re-posting on FB now.
Rachelle – I just watch both your’s and Shay’s videos. They are so beautiful. Thank you to both of you for embodying blessing. It makes me more whole to know that there are pastors and ministers actively working to get the message of love out to those who are primarily hearing hate. xoxo
UM RACHELLE-Y! Your message is profound and eloquent, you look fierce and bea-u-ty-full and where did you get that rock’n shirt?! xo
Jen – Thank you my beloved video-empowerment coach. :-) The shirt is from Value Village!
Lisa – I totally appreciate your voice of commaraderie and support.
Tonya — see you this weekend!
I just shared this on the FB fan page for my local chapter of PFLAG. Every time we meet, the subject of religion/spirituality comes up. In this conservative area, people bear a lot of wounds regarding their sexuality. Thanks for being a voice of compassion and encouragement!
Rachelle- I’m currently working with a group of alumni from the high school I attended and we’re trying to create a community of support for current students of that school who are struggling with intolerance. Thank you for posting this and for what you say in the video- it’s a powerful message and gives me hope that maybe we can make a difference. – Chel
