Your *8Things posts always seem to come at the perfect time. After a long weekend in my hometown, I have plenty to honor about the place where I grew up.

Have a safe trip back to the states!

WOW! Your time is finally over.
Wishing you save travels & moving as you journey back home!
Will be looking to hear how things are going as you get settled.

I've never (yet) visited Copenhagen, but I love your line about the elderly aunt, that's how I've always imagined it! Bon voyage!

*8 things to treasure about Northampton, MA (where I lived for 10 months during 2009):
1- My 10-years-older-than-me-but-same-age-in-spirit friends there (and our portrait parties), and the feeling of cooperation and contentment in the music scene we were part of together.
2- The Connecticut River, who's beauty just calls to me and leaves me speechless, especially when firey orange and red trees are being reflected all along it.
3- The 4 totally distinguishable seasons, from the coldest, deep winter snow to the hottest, muggiest summer sunrises.
4- Being just a 3 hour drive from NYC, yet being so peacefully tucked into a small-town when you get home again.
5- How *difficult* it is to feel *unsafe* there, even walking the streets alone at night.
6- Among many other favourite local dishes: Herrell's Burnt Sugar 'n' Butter Ice Cream *grrrrggglll*
7- How EASY it was to get where you were going (usually on foot!), and to schedule appointments, and to talk to strangers, and to find helpful people.
8- The feeling of it all– to live there on my own, to feel "I'm really doing this," to feel my wings stretching out, to feel so comforted by the climate and atmosphere of a place.
