Today in our Standing in Your Own Power series, I’d like to share a visualization technique taught to me by Leonie  Allen, host of Goddess Guidebook and creator of the Chakra Healing Guided Meditation Kit.  (And now proud new mama of baby Ostara!)

Last year, I called Leonie because I was feeling insecure – tossed about by a fistful of opinions and ideas, none of which I was sure were mine. Leonie walked me through a chakra cleansing process (something I know very little about.) She said my Manipura Chakra, in the solar plexus, was dim. The Manipura Chakra is the source of personal power and will power.  So Leonie asked me to focus on that chakra in this way:

1) Visualize a yellow or golden symbol of power. (A scepter immediately sprang to mind for me.)
2) From a comfortable seated position, place your hands over your solar plexus (navel).
3)  Take ten deep breaths focusing on your solar plexus and visualizing your power symbol there.

I did this every morning for about a month to encourage a feeling of being rooted in a place of personal power. (It really helped!)

Do you have any meditative techniques that help you stand in your own power? Mantras that ground you? Images that help you stay strong? Do tell in the comments below and contribute the giant pool of wisdom, now forming at Magpie Girl.

I’ve read a little about chakras and focusing on them in meditation. I don’t profess to know much, but I did find personally that using them as focus points did make me far more aware of each of their attributes. I’m still working on the grounding one, but I love the idea of the yellow or golden image of power. My mind immediately went to a crown. Interesting how people all come up with something different.

A truly powerful vizualisation! I constantly work on my Third Eye (Subconscious mind, Analytical mind Perception, intuition. Pineal, temple, ears, eyes and sinus) to help clear confusion and blockages and gain insight into what it is I need to be aware of. And thank you for the opportunity of listing our sites under “Small is Beautiful”!

A few years ago I had to do some preforming for school, I found it all very stressful and overwhelming. At this point I had one sleepless full moon night. The moon became my focus I could focus on the image of the full moon and everything else would become background in that space I was enough.

After I got through a miscarriage, we got the okay to start trying again for our first kid. When it didn’t happen right away, I started feeling fluttery and out of control… my emotions ruled my inner monologue, and I felt helpless to stop the train of unwanted thoughts and negativity and crazy desperation spewing through my mind.

On a whim, I started doing yoga and HOLY COW has it helped. The whole focus on breathing empowered me, and I found myself balancing in the most unlikely physical positions supported only by my breath. This transformation happened almost immediately. I can’t even begin to describe the sweeping sense of balance that came to me – both emotionally and physically – when I hinged my physical movements on ujjayi (ocean) breathing. Totally weird and totally awesome.

Yum! I love all these resources y’all. They all feel so time tested and full of good functionality.

Kate, Yoga saved me through the trembling post-miscarriage era as well. Thanks goodness for kind teachers who let you cry on the mat!

I’m so glad you are ALL here with me!

I have Leonie’s Divine Dreaming and Releasing Fears meditations, as well as the Goddess Year Workbook, and they’ve helped me tremendously! I recently got the Goddess Inspiration Oracle cards, as well as the Goddess Tarot too. All this influx of Goddess energy is helping me stand in my own power.

Tell me all about it! Leave a Comment...
