I tempted to answer this with a sassy quipp, but actually you’ve made me think.

Can boys come to the Flock spa? I think so…especially men like you who “get” the patriarchal/dominate social power structure and strive to dismantle it and live in a more wholistic way. I’d hate to exclude men from this brand of spirituality, the way I was exclude as a woman from so many parts of church life.

I’m thinking too of my friends Daniel and Dwight and how well they would fit in. (When none of the other men at Monkfish Abbey wanted to do my girlie-yoga-earth-mother experiements, Daniel was always right there with us striking a tree pose and salutin’ the sun.) We need all facets of the Divine reflected back to us, yes? I think so!

I’m pretty sure this will be self-selecting group, and the people who it appeals to — regardless of gender — will come to us with natural ease. And if someone comes who can’t play well with others…well, then it’s my living room right? So I can ask them to leave if needs be. (I’m thinking back on my days at Monkfish Abbey when I sometimes had to shut commenters down for being verbally/emotionally violent. I’m in such a different –and better!–zone now here with the lovlies at Magpie Girl.)

I’m terrified as heck that the finances of this adventure won’t work out — but totally excited to open the doors!
