I love this idea! I don't think I'd be able to do it but it definitely makes me think about cutting back and wearing what I have instead of looking at my overstuffed closet with a feeling of I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR. Good luck!

Huh, what a coincidence that I find this today. I was out clothes shopping on Sunday and trying on some jeans and cords. I was in the automatic mindset of "new school year, new season, need new clothes". I had the thought of "why am i about to spend money on things that I already have? I have jeans(2 pairs), I have cords(1 pair), I have grey chinos, I have navy chinos. Not to mention several skirts too. The only thing wrong with them is that I have lost some weight and they are a bit big now. All I really NEED to do is buy a belt. And some socks, I needed socks.

Going to have to ponder this idea a bit more but I love the idea and will participate in some way.

I love the idea! I, too, was a huge fan of the Little Brown Dress project but didn't feel an undertaking that big would be possible for me (an inner-city teacher and commuter biker)--but this definitely is! Before November 27, I'll need to do some research on good gloves, an ear-warmer headband, and a coat for my first year of biking in Chicago's winter. Thanks for the idea and best of luck to everyone participating!

I just posted somethings that make up my style - what makes me happy as far as clothes go. I buy when I need - I wear my clothes forever - I still have shoes from highschool ( 16 - 17 years old and I love them!) I guess that is why I don't mind spending a little more - but I still don't spend a ton - I almost NEVER buy at full price - I wait for the big bargains - I try to wait for the 50% off plus....I like good jeans a little higher price but again I wear them forever - my good jeans are over 3 years old and a couple other are 5+ years old. So I guess my theory is buy the good stuff that is classic in style when it's on sale so you can wear it a while. :)

I love the idea of this, and I am going to be joining you... in my own spirit-of-the-law way. While I DO need some new clothes (most of my wardrobe is from my college days, almost a decade ago, or from the two pregnancies that have made up the last 5 years... not exactly flattering), I think I can make do without that pair of boots I had been planning on for this winter. And without another belt. And without another sweater... at least until two weeks into January when every piece of wearable clothing is frozen stiff on the laundry line. :) I hope you'll be posting some pictures of the creative heights this challenge takes you to!

Hmmm, writing a pass might get me a bit closer to joining. Mine would be falling in love. No, not with a person, silly! With a garment. That moment of walking past the shop window and hearing the siren call of the purple wrap top or whatever and knowing it would be utterly perfect on you.

But I think your point 5 is the most important, and no of course we shouldn't be slaves to fashion marketing, whether or not we are buying new stuff. We should always consider how what we wear reflects who we are, that's the creativity and fun of clothes. I may feel a blog post coming on...
