Good morning readers. Well, this week’s vibrant, helpful, inspiring guest post got a little waylaid. No emergency or anything, just a wee bit of a scheduling conflict. Never fear, our surprise guest will be with us in an upcoming week.
In lieu of a special guest, let’s start out the week with another kind of loveliness… I’m starting a recommendations page — Magpie Girl Suggests – with only my most favorite things. It’s true, I fall frequently in love, but this list, these are the top loves of my reading life. Nothing wasted. Not a one. Why not stop on by and see if you can’t find something you would love to have arrive in your mailbox by the end of the week?
And stay tuned from now on as (most) Friday’s will become a place for my favorite things: extended reviews, images, and recommendations from my heart to yours.

Oh my! The parenting and childrens’ books aside, we have a great deal in common on our bookshelves!
In terms of novels, I think you would enjoy The Road Home, by Rose Tremain. It’s a story of transformation and new life, very gritty in parts but full of hope. Perhaps unusually for a female writer it has a male protagonist, who I found to be very well and fully drawn.
Oh you have some of my favorite books on your list. Bird By Bird, The Red Tent, A Prayer for Owen Meany. All wonderful. Excited to look into some of your other recommendations.
My second favourite thing after books is book recommendations! I’ll definitely check some of these out, and I’m looking forward to more additions of Magpie Girl Suggests.

Ahhhh ~ Time Traveller’s Wife is a book I absolutely adore! Another book I love almost as much is The Book Thief.
