I love this post! And I would say that the one regarding the -dictorians is great.

It is way more important to concentrate on content rather than titles.

So many of these -dictorians don’t really know the subject but rather aced a test then let it go.

I have one I would add to your list…EXPERIMENT while in high school (and extend that into college). Experiment with your hair, your clothes, your music, your personality. Do all the edgy things you need to while in high school. Rebel during high school. Get piercings and dye your hair green while in high school (if you are into piercings and dying your hair of course). Date that really cute skater boy. These things only get harder to do as you get older (and the cute skater boys usually don’t stay cute and/or skaters). And if you can define your rebellious/experimental self a little more while you’re young, you’ll save some yourself some trouble and lots of time (and maybe regret) when you’re older.

I love this. (The “have someone other than your parents teach you” made me laugh… and cry a wee bit at the traumatic memories. :) ) I’m curious how many of these things you accomplished in your teens?
I’m bookmarking this list to re-read when my girls get older; I appreciate every glimpse I can get into what a wonderful teenagehood would look like for them.

We had 2 stick shift vehicles, so I was forced to learn – an excellent strategy. The very first time my dad took me out to practice I jumped a curb and stalled the vehicle. This was a matter of months before his heart attack (poor guy survived – he had to help me finish learning to drive!).

1. check 2. have never worn one… 3. did that too 4. i was told i could graduate cum laude if i studied a little harder. I ignored that advise and focused on English because I wanted to get a 9 on my diploma and guess what. Got it. I’m so very proud of that until this day. More than I could ever be of graduating cum laude just because other people thought I should have done that. 5. I learned to drive a car but never got a driving lisence. I have an issue with (not) finishing things…. 6. In Holland we all have to study English and than German or French. I studied French, yet I haven’t used the language in 9+ years so all I remember is bonjour ;) 7. i wonder if i truly did that… 8. Still carry those things with me. Not everywhere though.

This was actually really fun to do/think about. And number one definitely brought back memories. Happy memories!
