I wonder if they are supposed to capture one thing that isn't just the usual. I think being described as pleasant is great (and I agree) but I think middle-aged is pushing it. This sounds just up my street as well. I remember when a friend of mine, at around the age of 38, got her name in the local paper because she had (very sadly) discovered a neighbour's suicide.
