Lost and Found: One Blogger

Where was Small is Beautiful Saturday? Where was Spiritual Something Sunday? And when I went missing on Habitude Monday, well, surely something was amiss.

I don’t know what happened. The sun came out. I spent too much time on the back porch drinking beers and pretending it was only the beginning of summer. That led to cocktails and poker and late night girl talk on the porch swing. I got a couple of headaches and when I recovered from those there was a dinner cruise of a wedding on the most perfect Seattle evening imaginable. Then, when I went to my studio the stacks of stuff to do nearly smothered me. It’s took me a few days to dig out through a heap of bills, unanswered phone calls and moldy old emails.

But I’m here now. Dolly won’t never go away again.

The rest of this week is dedicated to two things 1) a writing project I promised to do for the Advent reader at my alma mater, Regent College and 2) the Small is Beautiful page- and-button, which I am determined to have up and running by Saturday. (Paul says he’ll help.)

Thankfully, my monthly Habitude of walking everyday is helping me so much! I get up at 6:30am, write my morning pages (on the balcony if it’s nice enough), copy a to do list based on my morning pages worry, then don my walking togs and hop on the treadmill for 45 minutes with the staff of President Josiah Bartlett’s White House. Without that commitment to an early morning walk I would be really unproductive. I’d sleep until the kids woke me up, be late for school, not shower until 10am and generally miss out on half the day. Phew. Thank goodness for walking partners.

What’s your special routine to get you off and running in the morning? Got any get up and get focused tips for those of us who are distracted by sparkly things?

I have always found that if I have to change clothes to exercise, it never seems to happen. Thus, I get out of bed and put on my gym togs. After the kids are deposited for another day of book-learning, I go to the gym, or take my walk etc. When I come home, I get the reward of a hot shower and street clothes, with girl shoes and earrings, too.

Some days the perfect weather calls me to walk early. I just slip on my old tennis shoes (because they are going to get soaked), let the dogs out and go.
Other days when I don’t roll out so early I wait until right before dark to go because that is when I’m most likely to see deer.

I have to admit I did miss a couple of day due to severe cramping, but, I knew I would be forgiven :)

It is really helping me, too. I have felt so much better.
