Habitude: Walking Tips
I’ve had two lovely walks so far – one on the treadmill watching a favorite telly show on netflix; the other with Paul and Samson up to the hardware store to pick up a some bracelet making supplies.
For me, the key to getting a daily walk is to do it in the morning. I make sure my water bottle is filled up the night before and either sleep in my walking sweats, or lay them out at the foot of my bed. I also make sure my Zune is charged up and full of audiobooks. Right now I’m listening to this and this.
Aola’s motivation plan involved clearing the blackberry vines off the trail on her property.Vivienne puts on her walking shoes before supper so she doesn’t talk her self out of her evening loop around the neighborhood. What do you do to meet your walking resolve?

I don’t go in the middle of the afternoon! The other day I had the brilliant idea of getting out of the house at 2 in the afternoon, I made it for about ten minutes and was so hot and sweaty that I had to call it quits only to finish in the evening. Now that I am committed to doing it in the evenings it is a lot more realistic.

I think I was 25 before I ever had a car at my disposal to run errands, etc. - so I am a Walk with a Purpose kind of gal. I walk to the post office, library, grocery and the gym. If I have a short errand, I’ll take the long loop to use up my 30 minutes. Then I can feel good about the walk, and the reduction of atmospheric carbon as well.

I’m glad everyone is having a nice time. Paul (the faithful hubby) has been helping me get my walking in on the weekends, when I’m less likely to get up for a morning walk. Yesterday we walked with the kids and the dog to a local park and enjoyed one of the last summer evenings together. School starts tomorrow! Yay!
