September Habitude: Walk Every Day

Did you all have a nice summer off? Feel up to picking up some good habits? It’s time for a new habitude.

I don’t know about you, but even though I haven’t been a student for lo, these many years, I still feel like having a fresh start when back-to-school rolls around. Now that the littles will be riding the big yellow bus again, the habit I’m most eager to pick back up is my daily walk.

Dr. Oz, Oprah’s self proclaimed “America’s Dr.” says an easy step to better health is to walk at least 30 minutes a day. No. Matter. What. So what do you say? Who wants to join me in walking every day? We can keep each other on track and share about how walking changes our days.

Make sure you add this blog to your feeds list, because Monday will be motivation day for our walking habitude! Here’s an early installment so you can be ready to go on Monday, September 3rd (that’s just three days away!)

Magpie Girl’s Tips to Getting Started:

1. Make it a date. Go on, write “take a walk” in every little square on your September calendar.
2. Get your workout gear ready. Are your walking shoes in order? Know where your water bottle is? Okay then, you’re ready to go!

Drop your name in the comments if you’ll be joining our September walkabout!

Heh…I had to stare at the screen a bit, walk away from the site, close the site, and then finally come back before I could committ to this one. I love to walk, but classes start next Thursday! However, I have a rather nasty habit of spending every second of every day on school work and I NEED to get up and move around. Signing up for the habitude means there is a level of accountability and makes it much easier to do and provides the needed encouragement! Thanks:)

It’s funny, but I’m also fighting the urge to make this complicated, to let the layers tell me a story that I didn’t write, but sure as hell seem to be living out as if it were my own.

Walking.
Yes, I will.

Oy.

Join a Walk-Every-Day Support Group for September…

Here’s an easy opportunity to get up and move with a little on line group. The commitment is simple: walk 30 minutes every day in September and see what your body thinks about it….

Oh this is perfect! I haven’t been exercising for over a month and think that it’s making me grumpy and fuzzy-headed. I was just thinking about replacing my worn out walking shoes and making an effort to take more walks. Now I have a definite goal and some accountability. Great habitude!

This is just what I’ve been needing! A little motivation and someone to answer to. I would love to join in on the September walkabout! I’m filling in my calendar as we speak!

Some of my peeps and I were just discussing the need for motivation…. this may be just the thing to get me moving again.

I’m in!

Walking always clears my head and makes me feel amazing after I do it, however I lack in the motivation department. I look forward to walking with all of you inside my heart.

Count me in! I’m homeschooling the dd this year and one of the requirements for her is 20 minutes of exercise a day. So, she and I will do this together!

I’m on board! I’m normally a child-of-the-gym exerciser, but have been craving a slower, less spandex-infused outdoor routine. I will saddle up my poodle and bring him along for the daily walk.

Oh goodie! Walking partners! Start thinking about what time of day y’all are going to go walking so you carve out the time for it. Good job y’all!

I’ve been walking to work this week (which is about a half hour) and it feels soooo good. My exercise routine is rather sporadic because after night shifts I often can’t muster up the energy to run. But walk! I’m in. I think I am going to make my walks an evening activity….after dinner (helps the digestion!). So yes, I’m in!

also a trick i that i like to do with walking/running is to put on my shoes/walking gear before i am actually ready to go because then i’m halfway ready already! (and i find its much easier to not let myself manifest some story of why i should sit on the couch rather than walk when i have my runners already on!)

I am starting tomorrow! I have read Dr. Oz’ books and I love them…but this might help with a little motivation!
