She's never wavered in this conviction! So finally, at Christmas, we bought her a real, kid-sized djembe. I told her if she stuck with hand drum lessons we could progress to a kit. We finally found a teacher who wasn't some questionable guy off of Craig's List, and Cate is in LOVE. Last week, at the ripe old age of ONE lesson, Cate donned her Esmerelda costume and performed for Monkfish. She even explained the names of the rhythms she'd learned and what "story" they were telling. I think we're doomed. :-) Cate, now age 6, has been telling me she’s going to be a “drum girl” since she was three. She’s never wavered in this conviction! It's bad enough to listen to him walk around the house drumming on everything with the set of drum sticks he carries with him constantly or with his pencil or with his fingers or ... well, you get the idea. ha, ha, ha!!
