to do when you’ve been sick a long time and are getting depressed.
1) Take a shower and wash your hair. If it’s long, put it in a ponytail, if it’s short slick it back under a bandana. Put on a clean sweatshirt (not the one you’ve been sleeping in for six days) and call the look “sporty.”
2) While you’re at it brush, floss, moisturize. You’ll feel better.
3) Change your sheets, crack the window, and take all the glasses you’ve accumulated on the beside table to the kitchen. (You don’t have to wash them, just get ‘em to the kitchen.)
4) Consume at least one thing that is not chemical and in the shape of the pill — a tall glass of water, a piece of fruit, a green salad. (It’s okay to have the salad delivered from the pizza guy.)
5) Repeat: “This too shall pass.” (Even if it is a migraine that hasn’t gone away since last Saturday.)
6) Get back in the bed with the very clean sheets. Be kind to yourself if you can.

sorry you’re feeling rotten. hope it clears soon!
Man, this must have been a bad one – so sorry!!
Feel better soon.
Oh I’m so so sorry you’re still fighting this demon! Intractable migraines suck! There is NO kind or tactful way to say that fact. My new course of attack for when the next one comes my way: DHE by IV pump from a home-health company. Do you have a regular (read “prescribed”) migraine regime? If not, find a neurologist w/ good bedside manners and solicit his/her help!!! (That’s where east can meet west in medicine…my chiro 100% supports my MD’s advice in this area!) And keep doing all the things you listed! And be gentle to yourself! You’re worth taking care of Rachelle!!! I hope this too shall pass…QUICKLY! (((HUGS))) if you can handle them! –K
Thanks all. I’m STILL down for the count. Migraines every day for more than a week — and this after a fairly good period of “remission.” Not even the botox in my scalp (my usual stand by) seems to be working. Keep up the hugs, prayers and good energy. I hope to be back to blog world (with a new zine) as soon as I can.
Shalom to us all!
Rachelle
